OSHA Issues Final Rule on Cranes and Derricks

Aug 28, 2013 - OSHA Safety Issues by

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued a final rule on the use of cranes and derricks in underground construction and demolition. The new rule results in the application of the same rules that are used in other sectors of construction work to these work situations. This includes the requirement that operators complete training and obtain a certification certificate by November 2014. This step was taken to cover areas which most believe were inadvertently left out when the prior rule was set.

The new rule went into effect this month (August 2013).
